Requirements
The local app requires Node.js 24 or newer and npm. SQLite is built into Node; a separate database server is not needed for local development.
Start the app
Run these commands from the repository root:
cd web
npm ci
Copy-Item .env.example .env.local
npm run devOpen the sign-in page. This page keeps the site header and omits the marketing footer so the focus stays on signing in. The development command starts the web app and background worker. Leave the terminal running while testing Pod execution.
First run
Create or sign in to an account, create a company, complete the onboarding sections, activate the company, and create a simulation Pod. Registration starts with a work email, followed by a Resend verification code, then a name and password. Configure Resend in both local development and production; codes are never printed to the terminal.
Where data lives
The default local database is web/data/workforce.sqlite. Accounts, companies, uploaded knowledge, Pods, decisions and results persist across reloads. Back up the database before replacing it.
